What A Contradiction!!!
I know for me, that in my vehicle, everyone must buckle up. Even in the state of New Hampshire... Where it is a choice if 18 or older if you want to wear a seatbelt or not, I still enforce it in my vehicle YOU must wear a seatbelt.. After all, here in South Carolina it is the law.
In the last few years we have heard it on the news that there has been an accident with a school bus and many children are injured. Unfortunately, even some parents have lost a child due to an accident the bus was in.. Fault or no fault on the bus drivers side.
We cram our children on the bus because we can't transport them back and forth to school. Even cramming elementary, middle, and high school students together. They squeeze 3 children to a seat and guess what??? They don't have to wear a seatbelt. Yet, in your own private vehicle, you get pulled over, you can and most likely will get a ticket if you and your passengers do not have a seatbelt on.
What most do not know is that seatbelts are meant to project you from going forward on a head on collision. And there are many that have had their seatbelts on and are seriously injured or even killed because of a seatbelt. Even still some that are extremely overweight can not even get the seatbelt around them.
Why can a law be enforced, yet they themselves can't even abide by the law and have our buses require seatbelts? After all, it is the law that your child attends school and receive an education. We send our children in hopes that they will be safe. Yet, the very beginning of their day, they start off by cramming our children on the bus and not buckle up.. Because even if it is the law (signs everywhere state, Buckle Up It's The Law).
This year I have seen new buses.. Yet these new buses doesn't have seatbelts. Isn't this contradiction for our children.. No, you don't have to buckle up to go to school and home... But, yes you have to buckle up if you ride in my vehicle.. Most accidents happen less than 5 miles from your home.. Why isn't this so important safety law in place to protect our children riding on a public transportation??? Think about it... When I watch the show Cops, when they arrest someone.. Even they buckle up the one they are arresting... Am I missing something here???
Most Head Start buses have either car seats in place or booster seats.. The Senior Citizen transport bus has seatbelts... Does that make our elementary, middle, and high school students less important then the head start or senior citizens??? Am I the only one that feels this way???
My thought today.
