Another Rainy Day!!!!
Today is just another day that it is raining.. It seems like it does that a lot, not as much as it was during the Summer months. I can not believe that it is already the second day of the Autumn Season. Before we know it, it is going to be Winter. I am always fascinated by the different seasons.. After all, who wouldn't be, right???
I mean, one moment you could sit and watch the birds outside playing with one another, squirrels chasing each other at their tails, running up and down trees and jumping from branch to branch.. Then you see Hummingbirds fluttering quickly as they try to get the nectar out of the flowers and all the energy that they use..
In following months, you start to see the leaves changing colors, that is only "imaginable" because you can't even created even close to the colors that you can put on a canvas.. Leaving only just a vivid picture in just a part of your brain, that maybe if you close your eyes just long enough you might be fortunate to see those colors, but just for a brief moment..
Then in a flash, you are left with seeing trees bare and the ground covered with white.. You are wrapping up in a warm blanket, a mug of Hot Cocoa, snuggled up on your favorite part of the sofa, by the fire crackling in the fireplace, and engrossed in your favorite novel. Every once in awhile you can hear children giggling, causing you to get up from your moment of being lost in another world, slipping on your slippers to keep your feet warm, and as I wander to window I cross my arms to keep myself from getting a chill.
A smile on my face as I see the neighborhood children building a snowman, tossing snow at one another, falling on the ground to make snow angels... and giggling.. Oh how I wish that I would of been able to do that at one time or another... I sometimes do wonder what it would be like to have a childhood that would of allowed me to have the care-free life---
It is amazing to me the wonders of God's great creation.. Living in the South does not allow me to see all the things that I did see at one point or another in my life. I graduated from Lynn Classical High that is about 30 minutes bus ride from Boston and if you are driving then a good 45 minutes if you aren't stuck in traffic. I actually did walk in the snow and when school was out, then you knew that it was going to be really a rough and miserable day of most likely white-out conditions.
I don't think that it could ever really feel like Christmas here in the South. Not for me anyways.. Even after years of living here, I still can't get use to looking out the window on Christmas day and not seeing the world covered with a White blanket. Sometimes I even find myself on Christmas night taking things down because it just never did seem like Christmas... (But, that is another topic for another day)...
Autumn.. I love Autumn. It is my favorite time of the year.. it is my favorite season too... Well, actually I also say that about Spring, Summer, and Winter.. But, today at this moment with all the little quirks of letting me know that it is now Autumn, with the temperature dropping, the world changing, my body feeling every ache and pain.. Today it is my favorite time of year. And yes, even if I sometimes have to be closed up behind closed doors because I am having a really rough day, it is always still breath-taking when I open the door and see a new world..
So, yes.. Autumn is my favorite season. Welcome colors!
