Apple Festival: To Be Or Not Be!
Westminster, South Carolina
Every year the Apple Festival comes to Westminster, South Carolina. Everyone that knows this area, The Golden Corner, knows that this is a huge event bringing people here to this wonderful event... ((Or really was it???))
This year, my husband and my 2 boys decided we were going to see if it was better than last year.. On Saturday about 2 pm we began our walk down main street.. Busy, with some familiar faces and some not..
I actually would of really enjoyed it, since it was very similar to an arts and craft show. Most of the canvases underneath were full of people's imagination of things that they had created either from last year events or over the years.
However, wasn't this to be an apple feast? To expect apple pies, pie eating contests, apple creations, especially since apple orchards are just miles away from this big event.

Apple Festival Westminster, SC Yet, as we walked main street looking.. There were very few and an outsider (might of not even have recognized it anymore than a Flea Market on a Saturday). Friends that I spoke with said that Friday night they had some apple pies they saw.. But, not even a candy apple could be found. Most that I spoke with said that they were also disappointed in the fact that it seemed no more than an Arts and Craft show then an apple festival..
With a few rides for the younger crowd, a ride for the bigger ones that cost 4 dollars a ticket, at a dollar each, because you wouldn't want to buy a bunch more since the few rides were for the wee ones. Lots of smells from sausage dogs and other foods that are sold at our Oktoberfest, an snow cone filled to the brim for 2 dollars a cup, and tickets for ten dollars for the music concert that night in the music Hall.
A great creation with lots of imagination, but definitely a "disappointment" if you were looking for creations from apples.. And each year it has steadily declined from being about apples... To a steady increase of arts and crafts.
