This Day Means Something To Me...
September 20, 2013
There always comes a time when I think that maybe I should do things differently and even plan on doing it quite differently than the way that I have been doing it... Yet, when those steps begin to take focus, I find that I might be going another way, but in the end, sometimes find myself right where I had begun or just slightly off... I love the new adventures when you can learn something and find yourself challenging even more so.
Today, September 20.. I lost my brother 9 years ago. He was in Afghanistan and was killed during Operation Freedom. Just for a moment could we just stop what we are doing and remember him and others that have very willingly gave their life for something that they totally believed in. My brother believed in fighting for our country to help keep freedom alive and help those that were in bondage. Yet, we find ourselves now giving up more and more of our rights???
What is happening? Why are we allowing our freedom to become more and more violated? Why is it that we are just settling for what is happening instead of fighting for and maintaining the things that we are given, (freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc).. When this war already won, once?? Yet, we very quietly sit back and watch the government (that my brother fought and stood for) take more and more of our rights away.
There is a YouTube Video that I really do love. It is called, "Why America Isn't The Greatest Country Anymore." The link if you want to see it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPHSXUS0_1c
This video gives you Statistics of what other countries are free.. What our ratio for living compared to other countries. Where we stand in Academics.. compared to the surrounding countries. We have allowed our public schools to take out prayer, we have allowed the Pledge, to leave out, In God We Trust? We have given up a lot of freedom to bear arms... and on and on we have allowed to see disappear or almost could get into trouble for because the Government has taken that freedom away.
It isn't me that I am really concerned for.. After all, I somehow deep inside knew since I was very young that we as a country have been blessed indeed and beyond measures. We don't have to fret about walking out of our door and wonder if we are going to be running for our lives because there is an air raid of bombs falling down upon our heads. However, I am concerned for my children and their children.. and what they will see and experience if we don't start standing up for our rights that are ours.
It is a matter of my opinion that we need to stop worrying about everyone else and what everyone else is doing, when right here in our borders we have our own problems that we need to address. We worry about children starving, yet here in America we have children and families starving.. We worry about making sure that we can provide medical treatment to others, yet we have people, neighbors, in our own country that need medical care. And yes, even if the other country can not afford to have medical or the means, if you look right here in your own back yard, there are people that can not afford and does not have the means to get the medical care that they need. Has it not crossed anyone else's mind that we are dying much younger than most countries?
And schooling, education??? We want to go and teach other countries the trade of reading, writing, arithmetic, and history.. Yet, we have our own American people that are graduating without being able to read or write. Then we have our own American people that can not even get a proper education because the education field keeps getting cuts and the ratio between students and teachers are very high. However, we want to care for others outside of own country to help educate them, but when it comes to education in life, they are much more equip to be successful and surviving, then our own American people. We focus more on pushing them threw each grade, worry about bullying, about money for field trips, yet many of the high school children are either dropping out of school or they are being pushed to graduate, without being able to do the simple thing that we claim we give our children, education.
Then of course we push medical to the degree that we want our children (4 out of 6) to be on some kind of medication in Kindergarten? They are to hyper, or they can't concentrate and they have ADD or ADHD. Now how many of you that are over 50 that you had playmates that was on this kind of medication or did you even hear about it? Instead of letting them be children, we want to Zombie them out, and if they don't behave, take away their recess (so they have to sit in the classroom) or give them lunch detention..
After all, they don't need to get out their energy now do they, because they are on medications that will keep them Zombied out till the end of the day and then we send them home. Yet, we all seem like we are okay with this... At least they behaved in school, they were quiet, they didn't cause disruptions, they didn't have eat lunch though (the medication makes them not want to eat), so instead of being children, we have Zombies... So of course there is a Zombie epidemic (we are making it so).
And you know what!!!! We have something even more exciting now... It is called, "ODD" It is Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a childhood disorder.
This allows children to misbehave, be hostile, angry, defiant towards any and all authority figures, This gives them the right to say no and there isn't anything you can do about it.. Because it is a medical term, that is... Well... YES you have it.. With medications. And with these medications it can cause the children to behave, quiet, and of course, be another Zombie..
Just a few questions for you to ponder.. How many of you grew up with peers that you knew there Zombies? How many of you grew up and would hear all the time, I need to get my medicine? Yet, today everyone around you is on it.. and the word Bully not saying it doesn't happen, I was bullied if you really want me to be honest... But, is overly used, abused, etc.. Instead of teaching the child how to deal with it, we are trying to candy coat it.. but yet when they become adults, in the workplace, what happens when a Bully starts calling you names, or makes fun of their shoes?
What happens, because they were never taught how to deal with Bullies, they end up taking it in their own hands and without regard, take another person's life??? We aren't preparing these children to become young adults, we are just helping these young children learn to survive, not exist, but survive the today and now...
Which in turn, shows you why many Grandparents are raising grandchildren.. and many children that are old enough to leave the home... stay at home with Mommy and Daddy... because they don't know how to make it in this big, bad world.. Full of bullies, using the fundamentals that were suppose to be taught to them in school... And instead of being a Zombie in school.. They have now become a "Walking Dead" in the adult world, but with no tolerance of their behavior because there isn't an excuse for them... even though that is what they were done in school.. Just the difference is.. one is small and the other big..
