Food is well... Ugh!

I am beyond "Awe" right now. My husband, Vincent, decided that he was going to surprise me for our "25 Anniversary!"

Yes, tomorrow on November 14, 2017, Vincent and I will be married for 25 years.

Where did he take me? He took me to the Charleston Harbor Resorts and Marina Resort. Beyond breathtaking view, with a balcony in our room.

We had already decided that we were not going to leave the property of the resort today. (We arrived on the Resort at 3 pm). I am not going to go quite into them yet, because right now I am very impressed with the Resort. However, I was starving. We had left the house a little after 10 am and did not get anything to eat on the way. Decided that we would wait till we arrived here.

Of course there are things that are not opened as it would be in the middle of the tourist time or even warmer weather. The outside Tiki bar was closed, leaving us to decide on the Charleston Harbor Fish House.

Menu as most would say was very clean and precise. Those that go to the finer dining can comprehend what I mean from this. (Or in my case would be because I watch a lot of the Food Network). Menu was clutter with nonsense or things that just did not make any sense to be on the menu.

Vince and I decided on the same thing. The only difference that we had were our soups. He decided on the "Clam Chowder: A New England Classic" and I decided on the "Local She Crab Bisque: Crab Roe, Cream, Sherry." Our supper would be the "Surf and Turf: Marinated Bistro Steak, Spring Onion Shrimp Scampi, Potato Puree, Petite Salad."

First let me touch up on the "Clam Chowder: A New England Classic." Anyone that is from New England area knows very well that Clam Chowder is not soupy. I am not saying that their Clam Chowder was bad because it wasn't that horrible. He has had worst. But, Chowder any for that matter isn't suppose to be soupy. Smooth and thick. Tasty. So... disappointed yes because they claim that it is New England Classic and anybody that is an New Englander would of definitely thought that the Chef would have to refresh exactly what this was.

However, on the flip side.. My soup.. Was very amazing. If I actually had a little bit of Basil could of also made just a bit more amazing. Of course, me not being much of a soup person I was starving so I think at this point anything probably would be good. After all, I ate some of the Hush Puppies that I really do not like.

Surf and Turf arrives. It is floating in the green (not sure what it is). Vince was eating his. He said it was okay. I started to cut into mine and the meat smelled funny. Just not right. It was overly cooked (I asked for Medium Rare), but I had decided that even though it was a costly meal I was not going to complain about it. After all, working in the food industry myself we all understand not everything can be perfect.

However, I tasted it and looked at Vince and told him that it tasted funny. I asked him to take a bite and he told me that he didn't want to do that. I asked him to make sure that it wasn't me just me. He tasted it and immediately spit it out. Said something is wrong.

I found someone to see if they could get me someone that could help. The waitress and another lady (I would assume was the Manager).. I explained to them that it just tasted funny, smelled bad, and that I even let my husband tasted it and immediately spit it out.

Of course they apologized profusely.. they asked if I wanted anything different. I didn't wanted the Surf and Turf. By the time of course they brought it back, hubby's plate was empty (me helping him of course).. Missed the sunset from our balcony.. and just was ready to go.

The waitress came back asked if we would like a piece of Key Lime Pie on the house due to the mess up. I told her no we just wanted to go to our room. She apologized again.

Now look.. I'm in the food business and I know about "Wowing" the customer. But, there wasn't any. Not even maybe a suggestion of would you like to have a dessert on us for another evening if you are still staying at the resort or a meal on us?

The food was drowning in green like water and slim. The potatoes (I love potatoes) was actually the only thing that tasted decent.

The positive side of this is this: Charleston Harbor Fish House does have a bar (if you like to drink) and does allow you to be down to earth there with also trying to maintain a "romantic" setting to eat supper for surrounding people. It is surrounded by the water view where no matter where you sit you will see the water.

The waitress was sweet and friendly. Eager to please, but not smothering. With all this being said.. to answer your question yes we paid.. never asking for discount of our rotten meal.. etc.

Cost: $78.30
Tip: $21.70
Total: $100.00

After all, should the waitress pay for the food being horrible? Absolutely NOT. Just like me.. she works for her tips for a living. And she was great! Deserving every penny of what she received from us.
